We’re looking for a VFX Artist who understands that great visual effects are not only beautiful but also readable, responsive, and gameplay-driven.
Our visual inspirations include Brotato, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, Death Must Die, Vampire Survivors, and Temtem Swarm — games where dozens or even hundreds of enemies, projectiles, abilities, and explosions can be active simultaneously while every effect remains clear and satisfying.
If you enjoy building stylized combat effects, crafting custom shaders, and finding the perfect balance between visual spectacle and gameplay clarity, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
- Create and maintain stylized visual effects for character abilities, weapons, projectiles, enemies, environmental interactions, and gameplay events.
- Work closely with Game Designers and the Art Team to ensure effects communicate gameplay information clearly and enhance player feedback.
- Develop custom shaders, particle systems, and supporting assets that fit the game’s visual style and technical requirements.
- Optimize VFX performance for large-scale combat scenarios involving numerous simultaneous effects on screen.
- Prepare, update, and request supporting art assets required for effect production.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience as a VFX Artist in the game industry.
- Deep knowledge of Unity (Particle System).
- Strong skills in Shader Graph and creating custom shaders.
- Experience in creating both 2D and 3D stylized VFX.
- Understanding of timing, pacing, and animation principles.
- Experience with profiling tools and VFX optimization.
- Up-to-date portfolio.
Skills
- Experience creating custom textures, meshes, and Sprite Sheets for stylized effects.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, and 3D software (Blender/Maya).
- Ability to balance visual impact with gameplay clarity.
- Strong sense of color theory, shape language, and composition.
- Basic understanding of Git or other version control systems.
Nice to Have
- Experience creating custom textures, meshes, flipbooks, and sprite sheets for stylized effects.
- Hand-painted texture skills and traditional frame-by-frame VFX animation.
