What is Extended Reality (AR/VR)?
The AR technology allows us to enhance the real-world surroundings with virtual elements. We can add live 3d-images, on-screen text information and other virtual items that convey additional information about related items, or add interactivity to surrounding spaces, but preserve the familiar controls of touch devices.
Marker based AR allows adding animations to books or objects to cards/images or even additional controls or description on household items. It can be used to enhance tabletop games (like adding animations to chess pieces, making them “live”).
Markerless application of AR can be used to place familiar games or game mechanics from virtual screen space into the real world environment, blurring the lines between game and reality or making for great 4th wall breaks.
